Phi Kappa Theta’s Joint Strategic Plan Almost Ready for the 65th Biennial Convention in August

Building upon the momentum from the 2024 Leadership Summit and the initial announcement of the Joint Strategic Plan (JSP), Phi Kappa Theta has entered a critical phase of strategy refinement. During the Planning Committee’s 17th session held on March 11th, Fraternity and Foundation volunteers reconvened virtually to assess ongoing progress and sharpen implementation plans.

At the heart of the meeting were comprehensive updates from all Key Results Area (KRA) teams—Stewardship, Growth, Operations, Communications, and Member Development. Each team presented their evolving frameworks of goals, SMART objectives, metrics, and early-stage accountability matrices.

Key Highlights by Team

Stewardship leaders emphasized sustainable fundraising. With a primary objective of increasing total funds raised year-over-year, the team laid out strategic goals including enhancing donor stewardship and boosting chapter-level fundraising through targeted education. The team’s impact statement underscored the importance of campaign consistency and strong donor relationships in cultivating long-term giving.

Growth efforts focused on increasing undergraduate membership and alumni engagement from FY2026 to FY2035. Notable milestones include expanding colonies and chapters at a rate of two per year, launching a national recruiting and retention program, and targeting a 90% undergraduate retention rate. On the alumni side, ambitious objectives aim to increase alumni engagement locally and nationally, form new alumni chapters, and boost alumni leadership participation by 15% by FY2030.

Operations team leaders reported significant advancement in sharpening operational excellence initiatives. These include deploying ChapterSpot nationally, updating alumni databases, improving chapter reporting systems, and planning major events such as the Officers Academy and Biennial Convention well in advance. Their two-fold goal—to elevate operational performance and deploy scalable digital tools—is central to supporting every other KRA.

Communications continues its mission to increase engagement and transparency. With a digital-first strategy, they are revitalizing key outlets like The Temple, developing targeted quarterly newsletters, and expanding the Phi Kap Konnect webinar series. Additionally, plans are underway to overhaul the fraternity’s websites, modernize member communications through Salesforce, and build a centralized digital library.

Member Development focused on cultivating lifelong brotherhood. Their initiatives include transitioning graduates into active alumni roles, offering life-skills education (e.g., financial literacy, legal guidance), and empowering local alumni chapters through strategic toolkits and playbooks. A particularly ambitious effort is the creation of four inaugural life education classes, which will evolve based on member feedback.

Moving Forward: Accountability, Legislation & Kick Start Plans

A major outcome of Session 17 was the progression of the Accountability & Responsibility (A&R) Matrix—a single master document identifying who is responsible and accountable for each goal, metric, and key performance indicator across the plan. This unifying framework will ensure coordinated execution and transparency.

Additionally, guidance was shared on implementing legislation and Kick Start Plans, both essential for launching the JSP’s first year (August 2025–July 2026). These documents will define early action steps, resource allocations, responsible parties, and reporting structures.

What’s Next

As the JSP Committee eyes the pivotal 65th Biennial Convention in August, it will be focusing on the completion of final reports, presentation decks, and the official draft of the Joint Strategic Plan. With shared vision and sustained collaboration at the national, regional, collegiate chapter, and local alumni levels, Phi Kappa Theta is on a path to transform intention into impactful, long-term change to benefit the Brotherhood for years to come.
