Phi Kappa Theta Foundation Board Welcomes Robert S. Basso

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA | Feb 27, 2019 – The Phi Kappa Theta Foundation is pleased to welcome Brother Robert S. Basso (Seton Hall University, ‘67) as a trustee!

Brother Robert S. Basso earned a B.S. degree from Seton Hall University and an M.B.A. from Pace University. He continues to serve his alma mater as a member of its Board of Regents; additionally, he serves or has served on a number of both public and private entities, academic institutions and charitable organizations as a director, regent and/or trustee. He has also served his country and is a Vietnam veteran.

Bob is a retired executive in the financial services industry having held senior management positions in UBS, Paine Webber, Merrill Lynch and Fidelity in an over forty year career. He began his Wall Street career with Loeb, Rhoades & Company. Upon his retirement, he founded BEST Partners LLC, a still active consulting firm.

Brother Basso also served the industry as a Trustee of the Securities Industry Association’s (SIA now SIFMA) Foundation for Investor Education, as well as, Chairman of its Western District and member of its national board; as Vice Chairman of the NASD (now FINRA) District I Conduct Committee and Chairman of its Nominating Committee.

Bob resides in San Rafael, CA with his wife, Mary. They have two grown sons.

Phi Kappa Theta Foundation Board Welcomes Pat Barrera

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA | Feb 19, 2019 – The Phi Kappa Theta Foundation is pleased to welcome Brother Pat Barrera (Texas State University, ‘87) as a trustee!

Brother Barrera was a founding member of Phi Kappa Theta’s Beta Sigma Chapter at Southwest Texas State University (“SWT,” and now known as Texas State University). Pat served as the SWT Chapter’s first Vice President and helped Phi Kappa Theta be admitted into SWT’s Intra-Faternity Council. Within two years, the Beta Sigma Chapter grew from seven founding members to a group of over 22 active brothers, with a fraternity house and a Chapter of Little Sisters. After graduating with a business degree, Pat attended law school.

Immediately after graduating from the University of Texas School of Law, Pat relocated to Los Angeles, California where he currently resides with his wife and daughters. Pat is licensed to practice law in California and Texas. He is an invited member of several professional associations including the American Board of Trial Advocates, the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Pat has been named a Southern California Super Lawyer for each year between 2004 and 2019 by Los Angeles Magazine.

Pat is AV-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. In addition to his trial practice, Pat lectures at continuing legal education seminars. He has served as a Judge Pro Tempore with the Los Angeles Superior Court. Pat previously served as a volunteer prosecutor with the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office.

When not working, Pat volunteers at his local Catholic Church and schools. Pat serves on the School Board at Notre Dame Academy and previously served as President of the American Martyrs Parents Association. Pat enjoys hiking, kayaking and standup paddle-boarding. Pat has reached the Summits of Machu Picchu and Mt. Whitney, the highest peak in the Contiguous United States and he has completed the LA Marathon and a Tough Mudder.

Phi Kappa Theta Foundation Welcomes Manuel “Manny” Gonzalez as Newest Trustee

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA | Aug 27, 2018 – The Phi Kappa Theta Foundation is pleased to welcome Brother Manuel “Manny” González (Texas A&I University, ‘82) as a trustee. The addition came to fruition during Impact 18, the Fraternity’s National Conference in Orlando.

Brother González served as Senior Executive Vice-President of R360 Environmental Solutions and CEO/President of US Liquids of LA in Houston, Texas. He currently is a partner at Altos Energy Partners and co-owner of VRS Winery and Vega San Juan Vineyards in Spain. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Geology) from Texas A&I University, Kingsville in 1982. It was there that Manny was initiated into the Kappa Tau Chapter of Phi Kappa Theta in 1978. He lives in Tomball, Texas with his wife Lucinda, of 36 years, and has two daughters; his hobbies include cars, guitars, sporting clays and fishing. Phi Kappa Theta welcomes Brother González’s leadership skills and dedication to the Foundation.

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA | Aug 21, 2018 – The Phi Kappa Theta Foundation is pleased to welcome Brother Mike McClellan (Iowa State University, ‘88) as a trustee. The addition came to fruition during Impact 18, the Fraternity’s National Conference in Orlando.

Brother McClellan currently serves as the President of Harrison Energy Partners in Little Rock, Arkansas. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University in 1988. It was there that Mike was initiated into the Iowa Xi Chapter of Phi Kappa Theta in 1984. His lives in Little Rock and has two children; his hobbies include being outdoors, and activities such as hiking and fishing.
